Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences PIMS-DU, Pravara Medical Trust (PMT) in association with Association of Medical Physicists of India - Western Chapter (AMPI - WC) organized 35th Annual Conference of Medical Physicists of India AMPICON 2014 from 20th - 23rd November 2014 at Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil Rural Medical College (RMC), Loni, Maharashtra.
The Theme for the conference 'Advanced Technologies in Radiotherapy - Reach the Unreachable' . About 600 delegates participated in this conference including delegates from SAARC countries and other parts of the world.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. P. B. Vidyasagar, Vice Chancellor, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. Guest of honour was Dr. G. K. Rath Chief - IRCH, AIIMS, Delhi. Shri. Rajendra Vikhe Patil CEO, Pravara Medical Trust, welcomed all members to PIMS, Loni & presented the objectives of the conference.

The 6th students’ scientific convention with the theme “Celebrating a common heritage – Dentistry” was organised by Department of Periodontology and Department of Public Health Dentistry as a part of silver jubilee celebration of Rural Dental College from Nov. 24th to Nov. 26th.
Col. (Retd.) Dr. S. K. Ojha; Secretary, DCI was invited as chief guest and CEO Shri. Rajendra Vikhe Patil was the guest of honour for this function. Other dignitaries who presided over the function were Dr. Shashank Dalvi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. N. Jangle, officiating vice chancellor, Dr. Gangadhar, Principal, RDC, Dr. D. S. Kulkarni, Principal, RMC, Dr. Anita Munde, Dean, RDC, Dr. P. P. Marawar, HOD, Department of Periodontology, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Director Administration.
The galaxy of speakers was included Dr. P. D. Joshi, Dr. Santosh Ravindran, Dr. Rajeev Chitguppi, Dr. Rajiv Verma, Dr. Vijay Deshmukh and Dr. Sharat Shetty. The topics and hands on included in the scientific session were ‘Mastering Endodontics- Basics and Beyond, Workshop on Rotary Endodontics, Eliminating Errors in Aesthetic Dentistry, Perionomics, What’s New in Smile Designing, Life after BDS/MDS, Workshop on Tooth Preparation, Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice, Restoration of Endodontically treated teeth and Role of Posts, Workshop on Post and Core. This event was a grand success with more than 500 registrations, brain storming sessions of lectures on various advances in dentistry and hands on courses along with a gala of cultural events.

February 7, 2014 | Training for “Arogya Mitra” of Gramin Arogya Bank–a novel concept to take health care to villagers |
The Centre for Social Medicine (CSM) of PIMS – Deemed University has evolved a novel concept of establishing “Gramin Arogya Bank” at Village level to address issues related to primary health care through empowered/trained community members. In the first phase, as many as eight needy villages, where there is no government or private health facility namely Durgapur, Chandrapur, Tisgaonwadi, Pimplas, Khali, Kasare, Galnimb and Kelungan (tribal) were selected to establish the “Gramin Arogya Bank”.
Shri Rajendra Vikhe Patil has inaugurated a two day training program for “Arogya Mitra (Female)”–the selected women, Sarpanch and members of the Village Health Committee on Gramin Arogya Bank. On this occasion, he has also distributed the “Gramin Arogya Bank Kit” which consists of First Aid Box, Digital B.P Apparatus, Digital Glucometer, Weighing Machine & Measuring Tape for Adult & Baby, set of IEC material - 20 books/publications, wall calendars on various health issues. Prof. K.V. Somasundaram, Director, Centre for Social Medicine welcomed the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour and participants of the conference and narrated the novel concept & philosophy of “Gramin Arogya Bank”
