Sports Physiotherapy Department


Introduction:

Sports physiotherapy is a specialized branch of Physiotherapy that operates in four distinct segments: emergency care, return to sport, functional rehabilitation and injury prevention. Sports Physiotherapy deals with prevention and management of sporting injuries at all levels of ability.

Goals:
Sports physiotherapy department provides on and off field training and care to optimize the physical well-being, performance, and recovery of athletes while promoting injury prevention and rehabilitation. Personalized exercise prescription is used to improve fitness and performance and exercise regimes are planned for return of the athlete to pre-injury level of performance. Recent advances, evidence based techniques, modern modalities, strength training and conditioning program are all taken into consideration before finalizing the sports-specific training program for an athlete to regain physical and physiological parameters.

Education Program:

Master in Sports Physiotherapy

Objectives of post graduate program:

 To have an in-depth knowledge of sports-related injuries including acute care & rehabilitation of Sports Injuries
 To develop collaborative skills in working with sports teams, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals for comprehensive care of the athletes.
 To attend Sports clinic in the College/hospital and field Training and at other sports academy/centers.
 To accompany sports team for National/State/University level sporting competitions.
 To cultivate research skills that contribute to the development of new methods and evidence-based practices in sports physiotherapy.
