The SPHSM encourages international, national, regional and community partnerships to foster a culture of inter disciplinary teamwork and a community of scholars at the cross-roads of Medical and Allied Health and Social Sciences Disciplines under one Campus.
Multi-disciplinary and holistic teaching environment: The SPHSM is located in the same Campus of PIMS-DU, where the other five Constituent Units - (1) Dr. BalasahebVikhe Patil Rural Medical College & Hospital, (2) Rural Dental College & Hospital, (3) Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam College of Physiotherapy, (4) Smt. SindhutaiEknathraoVikhe Patil College of Nursing and (5) Centre for Biotechnology are housed. Hence, the students of SPHSM gets opportunity to interact and learn from the faculty, researchers and postgraduate students of other disciplines to understand and appreciate the field applications of their subject in a broader and holistic perspective.
Institutional Practical Training: The SPHSM students are trained at the well-equipped public health museum, clinical and research laboratories of Departments of Community Medicine, Public Health Dentistry, Community Physiotherapy, Public Health Nursing, and all specialty clinical departments of 1250 bedded Medical College Hospital, 500 Chair Dental Hospital, well equipped Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre of the other Constituent Units of the University for enriching the academic and research atmosphere and experiences.
Public Health & Social Work Field Practice Training: The community engagement of students is done at “Centre for Community Health Development” of the School in the adopted 350+ rural and tribal villages where they get hands-on experience in observing and participating in innovative public/community health research and development programs & projects, including Primary Health Centres, Mobile Clinics, rural e-health centres, Motorbike Ambulance-cum-Health Clinics, Village Health & Wellness Centres (Gram Arogya Banks). Besides, the students get opportunity to participate in various ongoing public health projects funded by national and international development organizations in villages and urban slums.
Opportunity to interact with Public Health/Development Industry Partners:The School serves as Centre of Excellence (MoTA), Nodal Centre (MOHFW) and Collaborating Partner for various State, National and International Organizations and reputed foreign Universities of USA and Europe. This gives opportunity to students to interact with the visiting international faculty, staff, students and development workers of these Universities/Organizations which can enhance their horizons to understand opportunities for job placements at national and international platforms.
