International Collaboration





Objectives:

PIMS and School of Public Health, QUT, Australia:
  • To design and implement “Health Promoting Schools Project” in the Pravara area – First of its kind in the country
  • To strengthen collaboration between the universities through faculty exchange programme for research and development


Duration of Agreement: 2005 – February 2010

Funding: Community Service funding of 30,000 Australian Dollars

Outcome:

The university has facilitated implementing of a action-research project on “School Health Action and Educational Resources Development Programme” (SHARED) of School of Public Health, QUT funded by the community service grants of QUT, Australia. This unique project has been implemented in selective schools in Ahmednagar & Pune between 2005 - 2009. The collaboration includes appointment of Prof. K. V. Somasundaram, faculty from PIMS, as honorary fellow (2004 to 2008) with a visiting fellowship (March –April 2005) at the School of Public Health, QUT & visit of QUT faculty to PIMS in 2008. Efforts are on to continue the SHARED project and other student & faculty exchange programs through signing a formal MoU between the two universities.
