International Collaboration





Objectives:

The Department of Occupational Health of the University of Milano and the International Association of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health – an NGO in official relation with World Health Organization - collaborates in the area of Rural Health, which is one of the thrust areas identified by Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences – DU. The objectives of the exchange programme are:

  • Information and documentation on rural health
  • Epidemiology, toxicology and clinical research on rural populations and workers.
  • Training and education of personnel in public health, occupational /community health and agriculture
  • Realisation of projects aimed at health and safety promotion in living and working rural environment.


Duration of Agreement: 2007 – 2012

Outcome:

In collaboration with the University of Milano, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences – DU is starting a new unique programme in M Sc in Rural Health. This unique curriculum has been designed considering the need to provide the expertise in rural health as India lacks in this initiative. This programme is being offered from the next academic year: June 2010 – May 2011.

In order to start and develop the toxicology section of the university, a workshop on “Toxicology” was organized in association with the Department of Occupational Health, University of Milano, at the Center for Biotechnology from 9th Jan – 30th Jan, 07 (3 weeks) in collaboration with the department of occupational health. Currently the university is in the process of establishing a separate department dedicated to work in toxicology.
